bother

If you bother to do something, you make an effort to do it.

Example: Don't bother with the dishes. I'll do them later.

If something bothers someone, it disturbs or worries them.

Example: Would it bother you if I smoked?

A small trouble or problem.

Example: I can do it – no bother.

A bother is somebody or something that makes trouble for you.

Example: I don't want to be a bother, so I'll just go out by myself.

You say bother when you are annoyed.

Example: Oh, bother! Now I'll have to make it again.
