clown

A clown is a person that entertains people, usually at a circus. He dresses in bright colors, has paint on his face, and wears clothes that are too big for him.

Example: Some children are afraid by clowns because of their unusual appearance that can be rather impressive.

A clown is also a person whose behaviour is a bit silly, not serious.

Example: Though very intelligent, this person is a true clown so that no one believes what he says.

A person who is clowning is not serious, acts in a silly way, like a clown.

Example: Stop clowning all the time, you're annoying me!
