stamp

A little coloured square of paper that someone sticks to a letter when they want to send the letter.

Example: The stamp goes in the upper right part of the outside of the letter.

Any embossed sign or mark on a document.

Example: Deeds to a house have excise duty stamps attached.

To place a stamp.

Example: She stamped the sign of her company on the lower part of the letter.

To bring the heel of the foot sharply down on the floor.

Example: She stamped her pretty little foot.
